Making a List - Checking it Twice

I have found this list to be one of the most complete out there that I've seen.  I've added a few items and my two sense, of course.  You can copy and paste it into a Word document to alter it for your own trip.

Clothing & Accessories
 Shirts
 Shorts/capris

 Shampoo
 Hair conditioner
 Deodorant
 Contacts/glasses
 Contact lens solution
 Sunscreen
 Lip balm w/sunscreen

 Makeup
 Tampons/pads
 Razors
 Shaving cream
 Tweezers
 Nail clippers
 Nail file
 Hair brush/comb
 Hair gel/mousse
 Hair spray
Blow dryer (They actually have this in every hotel, but I always miss mine when I don't bring it.)
 Perfume
 Kids' toothbrushes

Other Items
Batteries (and lots of them! Disney charges an indecent amount for their batteries. They
know we're a captive consumer once there!)
Cameras (preferrably two. Each parent can have one. I like to take pictures of the kids on the rides
with my husband and he likes to take pictures FROM the rides.)
Memory Disks/CD to save pics on (unless you have a LOT of memory, this is a definite! And even
if you DO have a lot of memory on your disks, empty all old pictures off.)
Camera bag (I suggest this be small enough to fit in a backpack)
 Cell phone w/charger
 iPod, charger & earbuds
 Umbrella
Backpacks (This is my favorite way to tote my stuff. We bring a backpack for each adult to carry
and sometimes the kids pitch in carrying it!)
 Collapsible cooler
Large ziploc bags (I use these for left over food during the meals...not everything. I'm not putting
mashed potatoes in there. Things like grapes, apples, etc are easy to pack away. I usually survey
our food when we get it. If there's anything that's easily portable, I suggest to the family that
they save that for last so if there are any leftovers, THOSE are the things leftover. At the quick-
service counters, I have found that Disney is pretty good about packaging a lot of items, like
grapes and cookies ~ which makes it even easier to throw in your bag when you leave.)
 Sewing kit
 Safety pins
Insect repellent (I have never had to use this at WDW but I suppose if you went during summer OR
were staying at the campground this would be nice to have.)
 Antibacterial hand gel
 Wet wipes
 Pull-ups
 Pillows
 Books/book light
refillable mugs (see my post Bottom's Up on the Home Page)
autograph books (will post my recommendation for this)
 Laundry bags

First Aid
 First Aid kit
 Prescription medications
 Band-Aids
 Antibiotic ointment
 Anti-itch gel/spray
 Sunburn gel
 Antacids/stomach remedies
 Pain medicine
 Kids' pain medicine
 Sinus/allergy medicine
 Eyedrops
 Cough drops

Car Trip Stuff
 Maps/directions
 Proof of auto insurance
Guidebooks (If you are driving, this is my favorite time to plot out the plan of attack. I usually print
out a map of each park for each kid. I let them look over it during the trip and write out their
top 5 things for each park. This helps me make sure we hit at least their favorite attractions...in
case we don't get to do everything.)
Coupons for road meals & hotels
 Flashlight
 Paper towels
 Wet wipes
 Cooler
 Bags for trash
 Umbrella
 Snacks
 Drinks
 Pillows
 Blankets
 Portable DVD player
 Cell phone car charger
 DVDs for trip
 Drawing boards
 Travel games
New small toys (to break out when you hear, "Are we there yet?" and you've only been driving for
              30 minutes.)

Travel Paperwork
 Hotel confirmation
 Cash/credit cards
Dollar bills for tips & tolls (if you're driving there are at least two tollbooths as you get within an
hour of Disney World. Even the state of Florida figured out a way to cash in on their biggest
tourist attraction. Ha. Make sure you have $1's and quarters!)
 Checkbook
 Drivers license/IDs
 Health insurance cards
Theme park tickets (make copies; you'll be issued a credit card like hotel room key if you're staying
on Disney property. This will actually be your park ticket once you get it!)
Address book (To mail out look-at-how-much-fun-we're-having-and-you-aren't postcards.)
 Stamps

Kitchen Items (in the event you have a kitchenette/aren't getting the Meal Plan. But you may want to bring some of these items even if that doesn't pertain to you)
Bottled water (I like to freeze mine the night before so it's cold longer)
 Coffee
 Sugar/sweetener
 creamer
Water flavor packets (you can refill your water bottles at fountains but some have complained of the
water having a peculiar taste. I have not noticed it but Crystal Light packets seem to overcome
             this obstacle for picky pallets.)
 Juice boxes
 Granola bars
 Chips/pretzels
 Crackers
 Fruit snacks
 Small cereal boxes
Pop Tarts (It's helpful to have breakfast-on-the-go type stuff. If you wake up late and you want to
get directly to the busstop, you can eat while you wait in line or on the drive on the bus.)
 Paper Towels

Checklist for Backpack Before Going to the Theme Parks (I usually bring this checklist with me and pack the backpacks after we've checked-in the hotel.)
Theme park tickets (yes, we have forgotten ours in the room before and had to go back. We've even
managed to lose ours while at the park. *WINNING!* If you DO lose your park ticket and
you are staying on Disney property, ie have the room key, it was not as big of a deal to get a
replacement as I thought it would be.)
 Drivers license/ID for each adult
 Cash/credit cards
Meal confirmation #s if you booked reservations
Park maps complete with your plan-of-attack itenerary
 Camera, film & batteries
Memory disks, if you brought extras
 Cell phones
Neck lanyard for room key/tickets and pin trading
 Sunglasses w/straps
 Water bottles & flavor packets
 Collapsible cooler
 Snacks
 Autograph book
Fat pen for character autographs (Any pen will do now, I think. I've noticed the characters who need
fat pens tend to have their own now.)
Rain poncho or umbrella (You will save yourself a bundle if you buy this before hand! We got ours
at Academy for under $1. Besides, if you're PREPARED for rain, it doesn't happen. That's
               my experience.)
 water flavoring
bandaids (My neice skinned her knee and busted her lip before she ever stepped foot through the
gates of MK on her first morning. A bandaid makes it all better, especially if it's Disney
               themed!)
 Pain medicine
 Sunscreen
 Lip balm w/sunscreen
 Insect repellant
 Antibacterial hand gel
 Wet wipes
 Hats/visors
Dry change of clothes for kids (This is especially helpful if you have children with you who are
accident prone/potty training OR going to MK &/or AK where there are water attractions.)

Before You Leave Home “To Do” List
Give neighbors your travel information: Name, address, telephone number, Vacation date, Itinerary
             during trip,
Vacation phone numbers, Cell phone numbers, Emergency number (a
             friend/relative)
Give neighbors information about house: Which lights will be left on, Which cars will be left out,
Names of anyone checking/entering the house while you’re away
 Make arrangements for pet care
Check all doors and windows are locked
Reduce heat, hot water heater and A/C settings
 Secure all outdoor items
 Water plants
Unplug appliances: TVs, VCRs/DVD players, coffee maker, toaster, computer
 Stop mail delivery
Temporary Guardianship papers for any children who might be staying behind with grandparents or
relatives. This would give them the ability to make medical decisions without drama should
             the need arise.

If you add something to your list that isn't on here and you find it helpful on your trip, let me know and I'll add it to the master list here. Thanks! : )
